28th December 2018

Christmas has passed us by and hopefully the horses haven't eaten as much as I did, the horses tend to get a day off on Christmas day but there is no rest for the wicked as the team were in at 6am and have done a great job over the holiday period. Will and I worked up an appetite by giving Another Day Done and Quest For Life a spin over the hurdles ahead of their runs the next day, however both failed to shine at Wetherby and it's back to the drawing board for those two. Quest For Life has been in great form at home but could be in the grip of the handicapper, whilst Another Day Done may need a drop in grade. The next week looks on the quiet side but we have Oliver's Gold who will hopefully head to Kelso on Saturday, he ran a pleasing race last time at Wetherby and hopefully he can bounce back to form, he's been an absolute star in the yard as he's a pleasure to ride, it's amazing and slightly frustrating how he loves jumping so much, so much so that he has very little interest in the flat!

As I was leaving work this evening I caught two figures running off in the dark, Marcus and Will were heading off for a late night run (rather them than me) good to see the staff are keeping trim, they are both priming themselves for the point to point season and Marcus will be heading to Cottenham this weekend where he will partner one of our former recruits Mr Snoozy for his new connections Paul and Christine Drury, we wish them the best of luck.
