30th March 2017

My blog has been somewhat neglected this year so it's time for an update!!

2017 has brought mixed fortunes so far with only two winners from not too many runners. The reason for this is that the yard has been under a bit of a cloud recently, there has been no major virus or anything like that but the horses have just not been 100%.

We have had the best national hunt season to date with 18 winners so far, my goal for the season was 20 and with a month to go and the horses coming back into top form I will be gutted if we don't reach that target.

I am really looking forward to the start of the flat season now, we have got six two year olds this time and at this stage we look like we might have two who will be ready to go reasonably early on in the season. They are pictured below.

Four of our two year olds including Rickyroadboy are by first season sire Mazameer, it was not something we planned but we are really happy with them so far, which is a good job as if he does not perform as a stallion we are in a spot of bother!! His details are pictured below.

As well as the two year olds we have a number of older horses to look forward to, with slightly more horses than last year to run on the flat (17) I am hoping to get as many winners as I have horses. This is a tough goal to achieve but definitely possible as we have a couple of well handicapped horses that should be able to win 2 or three in the season.

Our first runner of the flat season  will be Rock Island Line on Sunday, he was bred by his owner Jill Gittus out of a winning mare that my Dad trained called Diablo Dancer. He was an immature two year old last year and did not race, he has come in a lot stronger this year and will be winning races before the season is out. He is pictured below.

I will try and not leave three month gaps in my blog from now on!!
