Things have pretty much returned to normal with a sigh of relief now racing is back in full swing and it appears that the equine flu situation is under control. We had a very welcome winner two weeks ago courtesy of Miss Amelia owned by Cambridge People and John Craggs, all of whom have been very patient with her. She was bred by my parents and is full sister to Miss Conway who won five races for us, we are hopeful Miss Amelia can do the same. We had Rock Island Line return to action at Newcastle and Passionate Love made her debut for us, they both showed up well for a long way and can hopefully do better in time. It was also great to see Quest For Life bounce back to a bit of form, it's taken him a while to find his feet this season but his run at Sedgefield looked as though a win could be on the horizon.

Unfortunately we lost Take A Break this week after he had to be put down following a freak accident in the field. He was a great purchase for his owners URSA Major Racing winning two races in quick succession. Although we only have had him a relatively short time we was a favourite around the yard and everyone is devastated to have lost him. Our commiserations to all his connections.

We've managed to turn our foals out recently now the weather looks set to stay warmer, it's great watching them grow and develop at such a young age. One in particular who has done well is a Music Master filly out of Lorimer’s Lot, she was a winning sprinter for us so hopefully her daughter can be as quick.

Another welcome winner this week came not for us but for one of our owners, Christine Drury, who now has one of our former recruits in Shimla Dawn. Christine does a huge amount as part of our local point to point committee which raises money for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance. So when they were called out to her rescue recently when she broke her leg a few weeks after this years fixture, she saw first hand what the money she has helped to raise does. It was a welcome tonic for her to see Shimla Dawn romp up at Musselburgh this week, he was also partnered by our own Emma Todd who it's safe to say has a bit of a soft spot for him!
