1st September 2015

Can't believe its September already, where has the summer gone!! The yard is now very busy with the jumpers back in and also most of the flat horses still on the go; that is apart from Druid's Diamond and Bit of a Quirke. These two horses are only two and have quite sensibly been turned out to grass for the winter, I am really excited about them as they both showed plenty of ability and should be winning races next flat season.

Our horses are running well on the whole, getting placed regularly which although shows their wellbeing  is frustrating at times.  Adam's Ale is one that keeps running well in very competitive races,  he was only beaten a length at Thirsk the other day in a 20 runner handicap. Next on the agenda for him could be a trip to Ayr this month for either the silver or bronze cup, I know there is a good race in him, hopefully it will be there.

The jumpers are getting into full swing now and the youngsters are looking like a really good bunch so far, all seem to jump very naturally and show plenty up the gallops as well. A filly we call 'Olive' who is a three year old by Kalanisi is one of the most exciting at this stage but it would be very hard to choose between them. I think we have the best team of older jumpers we have ever had as well so I am really optimistic about the season ahead.

One horse I have been really looking forward to running over fences is Oliver's Gold, a four time winner for us over hurdles has looked exceptional in his jumping at home makes his chase debut at Sedgefield on Thursday with Dougie Costello on board. He has run well for his new owners on the flat and over hurdles so far, hopefully the switch to chasing will get him back in the winners enclosure. Also on Thursday we have Big Sound, Cornborough and Woody Bay racing, looking forward to a busy and interesting day's racing.
