July was a very frustrating month for me, the horses in general have been running well but not winning. Woody Bay and Adam's Ale both ran well at York with Woody Bay fininshing 2nd, but it is the winning horses that are remembered not those who 'ran well'. There were also a couple of big disappointments; Southview Lady and Regal Missile both ran badly however we have since discovered the causes of their lack of form so I hope they will be back on track next time they run.

Lorimer's Lot has now finished 2nd and 3rd in her last two races and is looking like a win is just around the corner, it is good to see her back on form and running well. We have had problems with her coming into season very often and running poorly because of it. The vets have tried a relatively new procedure of injecting fractionated coconut oil into her uterus just after she ovulates, the idea being it will trick her body into thinking she is in foal and therefore does not come into season for three months. Since carrying out this procedure she has run two great races so it looks like it may have done the trick!

The jumpers are just starting their pre-training at the moment and I feel like we have some really good prospects for the National Hunt season ahead. Shimla Dawn and Uno Valoroso both look up to winning good races and we also have a really nice looking bunch of young ones so hopefully there will be a star or two among them.

We have Cornborough running today and Regal Missile tomorrow so hopefully one of them may end the run of 2nd and 3rds and get us back in the winners enclosure.
