5th September 2015

Been a busy and productive week so far; out of six runners we have had a winner, two seconds and a third.

Thursday and I was at Haydock with Woody Bay and Cornborough in the same race. 'Woody' who won by a length and three quarters has been running well all season and deserved to get his head in front again. His only problem  has been a tendency to start slowly but on Thursday he came out of the stalls quickly and was in front after a furlong, once he got to the front he never looked like getting beat and stayed on strongly all the way to the line. His form figures now  read 4751422561 for this  season! Cornborough, who ran in the same race, also ran a cracker. He was near the rear of the field early on in the race and got blocked a few times before getting a gap, staying on strongly to get third place. Some people who watched the race thought Cornborough would have won if he had got a clear run, it was very hard to say and it is quite possible that if might have done, one thing is for sure is that he looks like a winner waiting to happen.

Below is a picture of Linda with Woody Bay(left) and Anna with Cornborough after the race.

Tim was at Sedgefield to saddle Olivers's Gold who we fancied to win on his chase debut, he looked like he was going to get the job done going into the last fence only to be badly hampered by a horse falling in front which stopped him in his tracks, however he still managed to finish a good second.  Big Sound also ran at Sedgefield finishing 5th, the ground was a bit too quick for him on this occasion.

Yesterday Lorimer's Lot made the long trip to Musselburgh and it was nearly a winning one, she finished a very good second, no excuses just beaten by a better horse on the day. She has been so consistent recently and I'm sure there is a race in her before the end of the season. Her recent form reads 32292, with the 9th place being on unsuitable ground.

Home Flyer was also in action at Newcastle yesterday, he has been a shade disappointing this season since finishing a good third at Thirsk. He will have another run this season and if he does not put in a better performance his owners and I might have to decide if we are to carry one racing him next season.

A big day tomorrow with Craggaknock trying to gain that elusive York win for our yard, fingers crossed....
