We have had a very frustrating run of seconds recently, Cornborough, Craggaknock, Veroce, Oliver's Gold and Big Sound have all filled the runner up position in the last two weeks. As much as it is frustrating it shows the horses are in good form and the winners look sure to come soon.
One horse I was delighted with at Hexham last week was Miss Conway who finished 4th, she is our first homebred runner out of a mare called Miss Pross who won six races for the yard. Miss Conway has always worked very impressively at home but been largely disappointing on the track. Last week was the first time she had looked like winning, she jumped the last in front and only gave way half way up the run in. She looks sure to win races this summer.
Craggaknock and Adam's Ale are running at York this week, it would be great for one of this two to get in the winner's enclosure. York is a track that I would love to have a winner at, unfortunately most other trainers are of the same opinion which makes the racing very competitive!
With Doncaster sales just around the corner any spare moments have been spent studying the catalogue, I now have a "short list" of 50! To whittle those down I will now try to find out some inside info about each one, hopefully I can get the list down to about 30 before the sale. I am hoping to buy 2 or 3 from the horses in training section. My Dad will play a big part in the selections at the sales as he has been buying for years and is a good judge of a decent horse. Let's hope there are a few bargains to be found!
