We've been a bit quiet with racing recently, but hopefully we will have a few out on the all weather in the next few weeks. We hope to run one this week at Market Rasen called Event Of Sivola. He won a Chase in France on his last start and the handicapper has given him a mark of 117 over here. It's sometimes hard to assess French form and see how it translates, however his homework has been very good and he will start off in a novice hurdle for URSA Major Racing Club & CW Racing.
Bit Of A Quirke may join him too as he could return to hurdles where he looks well handicapped after rattling up a sequence of wins on the flat at Beverley and Chester during the summer. He's had a break to freshen him up and will be trying to get off the mark over obstacles, he's still lightly raced in this code and I think he's open to further progress.
We welcomed back another one of the flat recruits this week as a 3yo Garswood gelding called Ezzrah returned from his break during the winter. We had him in as a 2yo but is a very big strong gelding who will only do better with time. Below is a picture of him with Will on board.
We also went to pick up three new 2 year olds, all by respected stallions in Dawn Approach, Lethal Force and Elzaam. We're building up quite a strong team of 2 year olds now, some at different stages to others, but so far we're happy with them all.
After having our new gallop built over the summer I've always wanted to install an all weather round gallop, so we had a bit of an experiment in our schooling field by measuring out and marking a perfect circle, we've been cantering some of the youngsters around it and it looks to ride well, I believe it could be very beneficial especially for the younger horses. Further down the line we also hope to install an all weather schooling strip.
