15th May 2016

Busy day yesterday as we were at 3 different meetings, Bangor on Dee, Thirsk and Doncaster. All 3 horses ran well. Woody Bay finished 8th of 9 at Thirsk, he ran a lot better than the result suggested as he was only beaten 4 and 3/4 lengths. He has been a little disappointing in his first couple of races this season but this was much more like the form that saw him win three races last season.

Cape Hideaway was at Doncaster,  he stayed on well to finish 5th of 17 and looks sure to be winning soon, he will also be trying his hand at hurdling before too long.

At Bangor, Cornborough (pictured below) provided me with my 40th career win since I started training. I was delighted with his performance and he looks very progressive over hurdles.

Noticing this was my 40th win it prompted me to have a look at my statistics so far, below are a few key stats.

Runners - 383

Winners - 40

Placed - 177

Win to Runs - 10.5%

Places to Runs - 46%

Total prize money won - £299,002.43

In any business you have to keep trying to improve.  With our great team at the yard and improving string of horses I'm sure we can get that win percentage up a bit. Richard Fahey who is one of the top trainers in the north, if not the whole country, and a trainer I have a great deal of respect for has a win percentage of 13 over the past 5 seasons, I would be delighted if I could match or surpass this by the end of the year.

This week we have a few runners with chances so let hope for another winner or two!! Also the sales are on so there is a chance there could be a couple of new arrivals.....
