After a busy few days we now have no runners until Tuesday at Wetherby, still plenty going on at the yard though with lots of spring cleaning to do. My mum has been very busy with the steam cleaner, giving the boxes a really thorough clean, they are then disinfected before being bedded up. This time of year is a good time to get it done as we have a few empty boxes, not for long though as the jumpers are due to come back in a very shortly to start their pre training.
Sunday was a very disappointing day at Southwell as Lilly's Legend and Big Sound both ran poorly. Lilly I think has probably gone "over the top" as she has been in training for nearly a year now. The day after she ran she was out in one of our paddocks and will stay there for at least 6 weeks. A good holiday I'm sure is what she needs, she is a nice filly and I have no doubt she will come back stronger. Big Sound ran a rare poor race, he is usually so consistent, there was something amiss and we have the physio booked in to see him later this week to try and find out what the problem was.
Oliver's Gold also ran on Sunday but at Stratford, he ran a great race at finishing up a very close third. Unfortunately he cut himself during the race and required a few stitches, he is however making a very good recovery and should be back in training towards the end of next week.
Tuesday and we were at Wetherby with Southview Lady who is owned by Cornborough Racing Club. I was really pleased with her run, she finished third beaten only 3/4 of a length. I have always thought she has a bit of potential so it was nice to see her showing it on the track. She is improving with every race and looks sure to win soon.
