It was our local Point to Point yesterday and my mum Gill who trains the point to pointers had her whole string (3) declared to run. One of her favourites is Shantou Prince, who she rides out most mornings, won the first race very impressively. He has now won all three starts since being trained by  Gill and ridden by Christy Furness who is the owner's son.

Filbert Fox was up next, a ten year old maiden having his second start for Gill ridden by Harry Kinder. He ran really well to finish a close up 3rd, that elusive first win for horse and jockey is surely just around the corner!

Grove Mountain was having his first start in a point to point, he ran a decent race finishing 4th ridden by Will Milburn, he looks a sure thing for a maiden race this year and could be one to look out for.

Luckily  Emma, Will, Harry and Anna who were riding at the meeting and  who all work at Cornborough Manor finished the day unscathed, it's a good job as my mum and I might have struggled to ride out 30 horses on our own!

The Flat horses that have come in from their holidays are now calming down (a little) and will be having their  first canter this week.

One horse in the yard who has not shown her full potential yet is Miss Conway. We bred her ourselves, her mother was a really nice mare who won 6 races and £47,000 in prize money. She did not win until we sent her over fences and we feel Miss Conway could be the same. Here is a video of her schooling for the first time over regulation size fences, her jumping was luckily better than the cameramans (me) filming!
