It was very agonising watching at Doncaster on Friday as Miss Amelia was nailed on the line. She continues to try and lose her maiden tag and we finally got to see what she shows us at home, Daryl gave her a great ride and if she can settle a bit better she should be winning soon. Below is a picture of her (light blue colours) in front just before the line.

It was great to get Half Bolly out at Newcastle on the same day, he seems a tough, hardy sort at home and he showed up well for a long way, he will come on for that and may go again toward the end of this week, along with Rock Island Line who is returning from a year off. He seems in good health but as always after such a lengthy break will no doubt benefit for his race.

Quest For Life showed a bit more glimmer and looks as though he may be coming back in to form,  and we were delighted with Bit Of A Quirke's run at Leicester. He made a name for himself last year as a Beverley specialist but I feel he could still be well handicapped over hurdles.

The winter has been a bit of a funny one weather wise, generally it has been very mild for the time of year and we have had very little rain, this has however meant we've been able to do plenty of schooling and the few hard frosts we have had, the gallop has been un-affected which is great to see!

It's also got to that time of the year when point to pointing has started, my mum and dad have built their business up from pointing and I too had many successful years riding between the flags, so as the season starts we like to take a keen interest. Particularly so as all of our staff ride and with a staff shortage it can be a bit nerve racking! Marcus and Will have had a couple of rides this season to no success as of yet. However, Emma made her return at the weekend after 4 months on the sidelines with a shoulder operation, she finished third in the maiden at Friars Haugh. We also bought a recruit from the pointing field at the sales last week by Aizavoski called Tour De Pub. I saw him win at our local point at Sheriff Hutton where he won the maiden, he is a nice athletic type who is three parts brother to impressive bumper winner Ash Hill, hopefully he will be out in the next few weeks.
